The government has offered Moldovagaz to pay $8.6 million to Gazprom and cancel all other financial claims - Victor Parlicov.
The Moldovan Energy Minister said this while commenting on the information published in the Russian press about Chisinau's proposals regarding Moldovagaz's alleged debt to Gazprom. "In this regard, I make the following clarification: After the verification of Moldovagaz's alleged debt to its main shareholder Gazprom, carried out by two world-renowned companies, it was found that most of this debt is overdue or cannot be documented. Thus, the Moldovan government offered Moldovagaz to pay $8.6 million to Gazprom and to cancel all other financial claims. The proposal was sent to Moldovagaz along with the results of the audit," Victor Parlicov wrote on his social network page. The day before, the Russian edition of Kommersant reported that the Moldovan authorities offered Gazprom to resolve the dispute over the historical gas debt of $709 million and settle the situation for $153.57 million. The publication noted that Chisinau offered to write off Moldovagaz's debt to Factoring Finance, a company controlled by Gazprom (Moldovagaz's debt of $275 million was assigned to it) and to Gazprom itself (another $433 million). In return, the Moldovan authorities propose that Moldovagaz pay $153.57 million to Gazprom by the end of 2025 as compensation for "deviations from the tariff" (if the Moldovan company's costs are higher than those accounted for in the tariff, it is adjusted for the future period to compensate for the additional costs), as well as to waive claims that may arise in connection with the incorrect distribution of transit payments and the lack of gas supplies under the long-term contract from October 2022 (about $160 million). // 26.09.2023 - InfoMarket.
