The technical project for the construction of the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau transmission line has been approved by the State Service for Verification and Expertise of Projects and Constructions.

The technical project for the construction of the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau transmission line has been approved by the State Service for Verification and Expertise of Projects and Constructions.

The Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Projects in the Field of Energy (UCIPE) announced this, noting that the capacity of this high-voltage line will allow to cover up to 50% of the country's electricity consumption during the peak load period. Once the technical design has been approved, UCIPE, jointly with the Ministry of Energy and the consultants involved, will initiate the land expropriation procedure and prepare for the start of works, according to the project implementation plan. The main activities at this stage will be: identification of owners and evaluation of land; approval of the government decree; making proposals for compensation and ensuring compensation payments; registration of state ownership of the land required for construction works; and commencement of construction works. As UCIPE Director Ruslan Surugiu noted, the construction of the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau high-voltage transmission line is a strategic goal of national importance for the country's energy security. The total length of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau transmission line will be 158 km and it will run through the settlements of 8 districts in the south and center of the country. The construction of the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau transmission line is part of the Moldova Power System Development Project. The project costs 61 million euros and is financed by the International Development Association - IDA, a member of the World Bank Group. The beneficiary of the project is Moldelectrica SE. As InfoMarket reported earlier, the contract for the construction of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau high-voltage power transmission line was signed with the Indian company KEC International. This transmission line is planned to be completed in 2024. It will be built within the framework of the general project of interconnection of the power grids of Moldova and Romania, worth over 260 million euros, which aims to ensure the country's energy security by connecting Moldova to the internal energy market of the European Union through power transmission lines, as well as to strengthen the internal networks of electricity transportation. The project is planned to be implemented by the end of 2024 with the support of EBRD (EUR 80 million loan), EIB (EUR 80 million loan), International Development Association of the World Bank Group (EUR 61 million loan), European Union (EUR 39.4 million grant). // 26.09.2023 - InfoMarket.
