The European Union will invest 13 million euros to help Moldova overcome the energy crisis and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The Energy Ministry reported this, noting that the UNDP program "Addressing the Impacts of the Energy Crisis in Moldova" supported Moldova in overcoming the energy crisis of the last 2 years by creating a compensation system for 800 thousand energy vulnerable families. In the long term, the program supported the transposition into national legislation of the most important European directives in the energy sector and the implementation of pilot programs to reduce energy consumption. Later their implementation will be taken over by the Energy Efficiency Agency. Photovoltaic panels with a total capacity of 1 MW will generate the energy needed for 5 district hospitals in the towns of Floresti, Nisporeni, Stefan-Voda, Cahul and Calarasi. They will generate about 1.2 GWh of green electricity per year and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 585 tons of CO2eq per year. Thus, the program will contribute to Moldova's goal of decarbonizing the energy sector by 2050. // 11.09.2023 - InfoMarket.
