One of the important topics of the European political community in Moldova will be the diversification of energy sources, including for our country.
This was stated by Minister of Energy Viсtor Parliсov, noting that among the topics of discussion at the second European political community summit in the village Bulboaca on June 1 will be energy security and diversification of energy sources, which is an extremely relevant topic both for our country and for all of Europe as a whole. The Minister of Energy noted that Moldova contributes to the overall energy security, since in recent years there have been radical changes in terms of energy supply, and, after the start of the war in Ukraine, the presence of Russian gas on the European market has fallen sharply. “Moldova is becoming a country that is not only a beneficiary of the energy security system created on the European continent, but also a contributor to the security of supplies,” said Victor Parlicov. Earlier it was reported that Moldova can play a strategic role in the interconnection between the gas markets of Asia and Eastern Europe, taking into account the functioning in the reverse mode of the Trans-Balkan gas corridor. In addition, by regulating the application of the “virtual reverse” natural gas (backhaul) procedure, Moldova has created new opportunities for transporting gas to our country and Ukraine, including through the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline. As noted in the Ministry of Energy, in the current situation, when natural gas flows through the national gas transmission system are no longer unidirectional, but go in both directions, the gas transportation service in the “virtual reverse” (backhaul) mode is a technical solution to ensure the continuity of gas supplies to consumers. The provision of a backhaul service by natural gas transmission operators increases the attractiveness of using the national transport system for European traders and suppliers who intend to create gas reserves in Ukraine. //30.05.2023 – InfoMarket.
