
The volume of natural gas consumption in Moldova in March 2023 amounted to 64.7 million cubic meters, which is 56.7% lower than in the same period of 2022.
According to the press service of Moldovagaz, at the same time, compared to February 2023, this figure decreased by 29.2 million cubic meters (-31.1%). Domestic consumers, as of March 31, 2023, had paid 95.5% of the amounts billed, which is 0.5 percentage points lower than the same period last year. In the case of non-household consumers (legal entities), the share of payments reached 94.5%, down 3.5 percentage points from the same period last year. According to the Law on Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, domestic consumers of 578, 727 accounts were compensated for the natural gas consumed in March 2023 in the amount of 440.8 million lei. In addition, for household consumers from the associations of tenants of 10,397 consumption points, the compensation amounted to 7.4 million lei, in accordance with the category of energy vulnerability assigned to each of them. At the same time, in accordance with the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations of January 31, 2023, non-household consumers of 7,556 consumption points were compensated for March in the amount of 20 million lei. According to Moldovagaz, 602 consumption points were disconnected during the reporting period, the owners of which owed the supplier 8.3 million lei. At the same time, 196 consumers were transferred to pay in advance, due to previously suspended supplies for failure to pay for the consumed natural gas on time.
