
The volume of natural gas consumption in Moldova amounted to 93.9 million cubic meters in February 2023, which is 31.4% lower than in the same period of 2022.
According to the company's press service, at the same time, this indicator decreased by 2.2 million cubic meters compared to January 2023 (-2.3%). At the same time, household consumers, as of February 28, 2023, have paid 92.7% of the amounts billed, which is 0.5 percentage points higher than in the same period last year. In case of non-household consumers (legal entities), the payment rate amounted to 93.5%, which is by 3.6 percentage points lower than in the same period of 2022. The payment rate of heating sector enterprises amounted to 50.2%, which is by 49.5 percentage points lower than in February 2022. In accordance with the Law on Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, 552.3 million lei were paid to 577880 household consumers as compensation for natural gas consumed in February 2023. In addition, for domestic consumers from the associations of residents (13,224 consumption points), the compensation amounted to 9.1 million lei, depending on the category of energy vulnerability. According to the decision of the Commission for Emergency Situations of January 31, 2023, compensation of 25.1 million lei for natural gas consumed in February 2023 has been paid to non-household consumers of 7,640 consumption points. According to Moldovagaz, during the reporting period, 374 consumption points were disconnected from the network, in accordance with the legislation, the sum of their debts to the supplier amounted to 7 million lei. At the same time, 197 consumers were transferred to advance payment, due to previously suspended supplies for failure to pay on time the cost of consumed natural gas.
