Moldovan authorities intend to sign a long-term contract with the Moldavskaya GRES located in Transnistria for the supply of electricity.
The Energy Minister Victor Parlicov announced this, noting that Chisinau has the intention to sign a long-term contract with Moldavskaya GRES for the supply of electricity with a significant reduction in price. At the same time, he did not provide other details. It is worth mentioning that the state company Energocom monthly extends the contract with Moldavskaya GRES for electric energy supply, and its purchase price has been $73/MWh for the last 4 months. At the same time Moldovagaz directs to Tiraspoltransgas all the natural gas it receives from Gazprom to produce this electric power. In March, the state company Energocom plans to buy about 244 thousand MWh from Moldavskaya GRES, which is 88% of the energy demand, not counting thermal power plants on the right bank of Nistru/Dniester and renewable energy sources. The remaining volumes are purchased from the Romanian company Nuclearelectrica and on the Romanian exchange OPCOM. In particular, Energocom stated that it will continue to buy electricity from SN Nuclearelectrica in March in the range of 30 MWh during the daytime and 10 MWh during the nighttime. In total, the electricity expected to be purchased from SN Nuclearelectrica in March will be about 18,000 MWh (6.5% of demand). The price of energy, according to this contract, will be, as before, 450 Romanian lei per MWh (91 euro/MWh). Similarly, another 5% of electricity is expected to be bought on the Romanian OPCOM exchange during peak hours. In January, the weighted average price of MWh purchased from OPCOM was 188.04 euros, and in February it was 163.5 euros. // 10.03.2023 - InfoMarket.
