
The European Union has allocated Moldova 250 million euros for the purchase of electric power and natural gas.
The statement was made at a meeting held by Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov and State Secretary of the ministry Constantin Borosan with Director General for Energy of the European Commission Ditte Juul-Jørgensen. According to the Ministry of Energy, Viktor Parlicov expressed gratitude for the continued support of the European Union, especially for overcoming the energy crisis of the last year. He noted that the European Union had provided Moldova with 250 million euros for the purchase of electricity and natural gas. He described as equally valuable the support for the development of the energy sector, as well as for the transposition of the community acquis communautaire into the national legislation. The Energy Minister specified that Moldova pays special attention to the diversification of energy sources, the structural decrease of gas demand and increase of energy efficiency potential, development of renewable sources and development of international cooperation between energy producing and consuming countries.
