In Moldova, gasoline and diesel fuel continue to rise in price against the backdrop of a sharp increase in Platts quotes for petroleum products.
This was reported by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER), noting that Platts quotes are growing amid market expectations regarding the entry into force of the EU decision to phase out petroleum products derived from Russian oil. NAER reminds that in addition to the EU embargo on the supply of Russian oil, which came into force at the end of last year, from February 5, a new ban on the purchase of fuel made from Russian oil will come into force. According to foreign experts, the stabilization of the regional oil products market can occur only after the regrouping of production sources and supply chains to cover the fuel needs of European states in connection with the new conditions generated by Russian military aggression in Ukraine. According to NAER, at the last session, Platts quotes for gasoline reached about $900 per ton, and for diesel fuel - about $980 per ton, which is the highest level over the past 10 weeks. Due to the direct impact of Platts quotes on fuel prices at gas stations, for tomorrow, on January 24, NAER set the following maximum retail prices for basic standard type petroleum products: gasoline COR 95 - 25.02 lei per liter (+22 bani); standard diesel fuel - 24.69 lei per liter (+17 bani). NAER stated that it continues to closely monitor developments on international oil exchanges and assures consumers that the current pricing mechanism is extremely transparent and ensures maximum fairness both in periods of growth and decline in quotations. //23.01.2023 — InfoMarket.
