Energocom will continue to buy gas from the market with funds received from Moldovagaz in order to take advantage of low prices and replenish gas reserves.
This was announced by the acting director of the state company Energocom Victor Binzari. He noted that in December 2022, the gas price was lower than previously predicted. In particular, in December 2022, Energocom sold about 96 million cubic meters of natural gas to Moldovagaz at $1,094.44 per 1,000 cubic meters (without VAT). In accordance with the provisions of the Commission for Emergency Situations, Energocom was allowed to sell gas from strategic reserves to Moldovagaz. Victor Binzari stressed that gas volumes and prices in December were slightly lower than originally forecasted due to warmer than usual weather. In addition, in the second half of December, purchase prices were declining, which ultimately led to a decrease in the average price. He recalled that Energocom has been purchasing gas since May 2022 at the expense of the budget, its own funds, and more recently, at the expense of an EBRD loan. “We intend to use the money transferred by the Moldovagaz company to purchase other volumes of gas on the stock exchange in order to take advantage of the low prices and replenish the consumed reserves,” Victor Binzari said. // 20.01.2023 — InfoMarket
