The state-owned enterprise Moldelectrica has asked ANRE to increase the tariff for electric energy transportation by 82.3% - from 14.5 to 26.43 bani per kWh.
According to the request submitted to the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), the need to adjust the tariff in force since 2015 is due to several factors: the inflation level, the exchange rate of the MDL against the USD, the increase of the technological consumption of electricity to 3.5% of the transported goods (164.3 million kWh). Representatives of Moldelectrica note that the significant growth of losses and technological consumption in the grid has been observed particularly since March 2022 and is a result of synchronization of the power system of Moldova and Ukraine with the power system of continental Europe starting from March 16, 2022. According to Moldelectrica, the growth of losses in the transmission network is due to: increased power flows on the 400 kV Isaccea-Vulcanesti transmission line, the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Moldavskaya GRES transmission line, as well as the 330 kV transmission line from the Moldavskaya GRES-Chisinau-Straseni-Balti-Dniester Hydroelectric Power Station transit. Representatives of the company state that the increase of the active power flow (MW) on these lines and, accordingly, the value of electric current (A) causes an increase in proportion to the square of the power losses on the line. There is an increase of power flows on the 110 kV transit between the Vulcanesti - Comrat - Chisinau power plants. The Moldelectrica administration explains that the main reason for the increase in the values of power flows on the transmission line is the circular flows from the Ukrainian power system through the Romanian and Moldovan power systems, after their interconnection with the power system of continental Europe. It is still unclear whether the tariff increase requested by Moldelectrica will require an adjustment in the price of electricity for end consumers. //27.12.2022 - InfoMarket.
