Fuel prices have slightly increased in Moldova after a decrease over more than a month - ANRE.
The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) informs that after a tendency of a permanent reduction of fuel prices, which resulted in a recent decrease of almost 5 lei per liter and a decrease of about 12 lei per liter for gasoline and about 10 lei per liter for diesel in comparison with the maximum values of 2022, the prices have slightly increased. This change is largely due to market expectations of Russia to reduce oil production by 5-7% from the beginning of 2023. Exchanges instantly reacted to the announcement of Russian officials to suspend from the next year sales to countries that support the limitation of prices for Russian oil and petroleum products. At the same time, according to data provided by Reuters, Russian oil exports from the Baltic Sea in December may decrease by 20% compared to the previous month, following the introduction of sanctions by the European Union and G7 countries, as well as a ceiling on Russian oil prices from December 5. As a result, both oil and derivatives prices have risen in recent days, so that over the last 14-day interval used by ANRE to calculate maximum prices, Platts quotations rose by about 10% for gasoline and about 9% for diesel fuel. Thus, the maximum retail prices for the basic standard-type petroleum products for the next 3 days (on December 24-26) are set as follows: COR 95 gasoline – 22.21 lei per liter (+13 bani); standard diesel – 23.06 lei per liter (+13 bani). ANRE assures the final consumers of the correctness of the maximum trade prices for the main standard-type petroleum products and reminds that the price formation mechanism in force creates fair and transparent prices, reflecting accurately the trends of both increasing and decreasing international quotations. //23.12.2022 - InfoMarket.
