The technical design for the construction of the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau overhead power line is 80% complete and the actual work will begin in the spring of 2023.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Vulcanesti-Chisinau overhead power transmission line construction includes 2 stages: 1. Development of the technical design; 2. delivery of materials and carrying out the construction of the overhead power line. "At the moment, the work of the first stage is 80% completed. The actual construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2023," the agency said. As previously reported, the contract for the construction of the high-voltage Vulcanesti-Chisinau transmission line worth 27 million euros has been signed with the Indian company KEC International. Its construction is expected to be completed in 2024. The line will be built within the framework of a 260 million euros project on interconnection of the electricity networks of Moldova and Romania, whose objective is to ensure energy security of the country by connecting Moldova with the internal energy market of the European Union through power lines and strengthening domestic energy transportation networks. The project is to be implemented until 2024 with the support of the EBRD (80 million euros loan), EIB (80 million euros loan), International Development Association under the World Bank Group (61 million euros loan) and the European Union (39.4 million euros grant). // 18.11.2022 - InfoMarket
