Electricity tariffs in Moldova may increase again - Andrei Spinu.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, such a situation is possible because of the increase in the purchase price, since now Moldova buys a significant part of electricity from Romania at a higher price to cover the deficit of electricity due to the termination of its supplies from Ukraine, as well as the reduction of supplies from the Moldovan HPP, located in the Transnistrian region. "Obviously, if the purchase price increases, this price will be reflected in the tariffs. ANRE should make the necessary calculations, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection will analyze the compensation options in this situation. I do not want to speculate. We will see what will happen, but I do not exclude the need to interfere in the tariffs", said Andrei Spinu. It should be noted that Moldova buys electricity from Romania at a price of about 90 euros (450 RON) per MWh. At the same time, earlier it was planned that Moldova would buy 67% of electric power from the Moldovan HPP at $62.5 per MWh in October 2022. Ukraine's Energoatom was to supply 30% of the electricity at $77/MWh and Ukrhydroenergo was to supply 3% at $132/MWh. The average price of electricity was supposed to be $68.9 MW/h. We would like to remind the reader that on October 12, ANRE approved new electricity tariffs for final consumers, and they took effect on October 14. Particularly, the prices for households registered at Premier Energy and connected to a low-voltage (0.4kW) distribution network increased by 19.3%, from 2.64 to 3.15 lei per kWh, while prices for households registered at Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord (FEE Nord) increased by 12.2%, from 2.86 to 3.21 lei per kWh. // 24.10.2022 - InfoMarket.
