The Energy Community: The gas transmission system operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) has confirmed that Ukraine is ready to transport the volumes of Russian natural gas needed by Moldova.
The statement was made by Director for cooperation with state authorities and international organizations of the GTSOU Olga Bielkova at the Energy Community Gas Forum in Ljubljana on October 4. According to the press-service of the Energy Community, the situation in Moldova has appeared in the center of debates because of the recent statement of the Russian party on reduction of daily volume of gas supply from 8.1 to 5.7 million cubic meters starting from October 1 because of difficulties with transit through Ukraine. Olga Bielkova says the Ukrainian gas transport system is not the reason for the reduction of transit volumes, and is ready to deliver the volumes of gas requested by Moldova, physically and contractually. "The entry point of Suja into the Ukrainian gas transport network from the Russian Federation is used at the level of about 42 million cubic meters per day, while 72 million cubic meters per day is reserved and paid for by Gazprom. Therefore, this entry point will be physically and contractually capable to handle the volumes requested by Moldova", said the representative of the GTSOU. The press-service of the Energy Community also informed that the data collected by the Energy Community Secretariat for the recently published SEEGAS report confirm the physical capacity of the Ukrainian gas transmission system to transport the volumes of gas necessary for the winter season to Moldova. As a reminder, Gazprom announced yesterday that in October the Russian supplier could supply Moldova with only 5.7 million cubic meters of gas per day (30% less than the necessary volume), because Naftogaz of Ukraine refuses to provide Gazprom with the full amount of transportation service. // 05.10.2022 – InfoMarket
