The price of electricity supplied by central supplier Energocom has increased by 33.6%, from 3.24 to 4.33 lei per 1 kWh, excluding VAT.

The relevant decision was approved by the Management Board of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) at a meeting on Wednesday. According to ANRE, the factors that led to the increase in the regulated price of electricity supplied by the central supplier are: application of the regulated price for electricity purchased from Termoelectrica at 4.54 lei per 1 kWh, according to ANRE's decision of September 28, which is 1.19 lei higher than the current price; application of the regulated price for electricity purchased from CET-Nord at 4.57 lei per 1 kWh, according to ANRE's decision of September 28, which is 1.46 lei higher than the current price. The energy regulator stresses that, thus, the approval of the regulated price of 4.33 lei per 1 kWh for the supply of electricity by Energocom is aimed at ensuring the economic viability of the central supplier of electricity and enhancing its financial capacity to meet its obligations for the purchase of electricity produced from local sources. It is worth mentioning that on January 28, ANRE approved the increase of the regulated price for electric energy supplied by Energocom from 2.29 lei to 3.24 lei per 1kWh, and the new tariff entered into force retroactively - as of January 1, 2022. Energocom, the central electric energy supplier, supplies to the wholesale market the electric energy produced by the corresponding power plants, which produce it from renewable energy sources, as well as the electric energy produced in the city district heating centers. Earlier, ANRE noted that the total volume of electricity supplied by Energocom accounts for up to 20% of the total volume of electricity sold in the wholesale electricity market. The regulated price of electricity supplied by the central electricity supplier is only one of the components on the basis of which the price for end consumers is calculated and has an insignificant impact. // 05.10.2022 - InfoMarket
