The U.S. will help strengthen Moldova's energy security by promoting the integration of its energy market with the European one.

The statement was made during the meeting the leadership of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) held with the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova, Kent Logsdon. According to ANRE, the sides discussed energy price increases affecting seriously the population of Moldova, energy security in the context of the events in the region and measures to diversify sources of electricity and natural gas supply. Veaceslav Untila, general director of ANRE, said the agency has an excellent and long-standing partnership with the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC). This partnership has continued for many years under the auspices of USAID, providing advice on the development of the most important methodologies related to the natural gas, electricity and state energy oversight sectors. The parties also discussed the implementation of the USAID-funded MESA (Moldova Energy Security Activity) program, aimed at strengthening Moldova's energy security by facilitating the integration of the Moldovan energy market into the European one.
