On June 30, the first electricity exchanges between Romania and Moldova begin.
Member of the European Parliament, Chairman of the European Parliament Delegation to the Parliamentary Association Committee EU-Moldova Siegfried Muresan wrote about this on his social media page, calling it an important event. He noted that Romania and the European Union managed to quickly come to the aid of the citizens of Moldova and Ukraine, whose energy supply suffered due to the war. “In March, just a month after the start of the aggressive war of the Russian Federation, the European Union took measures to synchronize the power grid of Ukraine and Moldova with the European power grid. This synchronization was necessary precisely in order to allow electricity trade between Europe, Moldova and , respectively, Ukraine. Today, just four months from now, Romania will conduct its first electricity trade with Moldova and Ukraine as part of the interconnection between Romania and Ukraine, according to information released by Transelectrica. The integration of the two countries into the European electricity system would, under normal circumstances, take much longer, not just a few months. That is why the efforts of Romania, the European Union and the two countries are commendable so that we can guarantee energy supplies for the citizens of the two countries. In addition, we need to support the two countries with even more investments in the energy connection with the European Union, which is more important now when we have received candidate status for Moldova and Ukraine,” Siegfried Murešan wrote.// 30.06.2022 — InfoMarket
