The Moldovan HPP might reduce the supply of electricity to the right bank of the Dniester from October 11 due to a reduction in gas supplies.

According to the ex-MP from the DA Platform Alexandru Slusari, a letter with the appropriate notification was sent to all electricity distribution companies. He posted a photo of one of the letters sent to FEE Nord. The letter reminds that the Moldovan HPP notified on September 30 about the upcoming reduction / termination of electricity supplies under the agreement dated March 30, 2021 from October 6 until the settlement of gas supplies to Moldova and the conclusion of an agreement between Gazprom and Moldovagaz. “As of October 6, we notify you that one of the force majeure circumstances in relation to the Moldovan HPP CJSC, indicated in the Moldovagaz’ letter dated September 29 of this year, continues to be the issue of ensuring the transportation of natural gas through the GTS of Ukraine in full. This circumstance, for reasons beyond our control, leads to a reduction in the supply of natural gas to the Moldovan HPP CJSC for the purpose of generating electricity. If this issue is not resolved between JSC Moldovagaz and Gazprom until October 10, 2021, the Moldovan HPP CJSC will have to proportionally reduce the supply of electricity from October 11 under the contract dated March 30, 2021," the document says. At the same time, it expresses the hope for a favorable solution to the issue and confirms the interest of the Moldovan HPP in ensuring reliable and uninterrupted supply of electricity to consumers of Moldova. Alexandru Slusari said that the current situation is the result of the surrender policy in relation to Transnistria and the energy dependence on the Moldovan HPP, to which, in his opinion, was added the negligence or direct sabotage of those who negotiate with Gazprom, as well as the belated reaction of state officials. The ex-MP said that he is waiting for explanations and decisions from the government, noting that he suggested that the authorities urgently start negotiations with Ukraine on the supply of electricity to Moldova. “I assumed that blackmail from the Russian Federation with the participation of the Transnistrian enclave would intensify. But unfortunately, Moldova does not yet have a firm and professional position with an action plan,” said Alexandru Slusari. // 07.10.2021 – InfoMarket
