In 2022, two packages can be submitted within the tender for the purchase of electricity for the needs of the right-bank Moldova, with the winner to provide 70% of electricity supplies, and the company that ranked 2nd - 30%.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spinu, stated this while speaking on the air of TVR Moldova. According to him, this option is currently being studied to diversify supplies and increase their reliability, to obtain the best price. Andrei Spinu recalled that the next annual tender for the purchase of electricity will take place in February-March 2022, expressing the hope that Ukrainian companies will be able to take part in it and the competition will be real, which will allow getting the best price. He noted that due to problems with different market regulation in Moldova and Ukraine, Ukrainian companies this year were not able to fully participate in the tender for the supply of electricity to our country. Andrei Spinu stressed that, as planned, new provisions concerning the regulation of the electricity market in Moldova should come into force in the near future, which will ensure similarity of the regulation of the electricity market in Moldova and Ukraine, so that Ukrainian companies can participate in the next tender. “It is extremely important for us to have the best possible price. The interests of citizens are important to us. Diversification is important; it will prevent us from buying all electricity volumes from one source in order to increase energy security. It is important for us to find the best formula in order to get a good price during the tender in the spring of 2022, to ensure competition, to supply electricity from several sources, and so that the citizens will ultimately benefit from all this,” said Andrei Spinu. Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, at a meeting in Chisinau with President of Moldova Maia Sandu, said that Ukrainian energy companies intend to return to the electricity supply market in Moldova. As previously reported, on March 28 of this year, Premier Energy signed a new contract for the sale and purchase of electricity from the Moldovan HPP to meet the needs of its consumers in the period of 01.04.2021 - 31.03.2022 and will buy electricity at a price of $0.0535 per kWh. // 05.10.2021 - InfoMarket
