Moldovagaz urged consumers to reduce the consumption of natural gas due to the lack of import volumes.

In particular, the company commented on the situation in the industry, noting that since the agreement with Gazprom on the conditions for the supply of natural gas to Moldova was extended on the last day of September, several hours before its expiration, Gazprom did not have prior to that, the legal basis for organizing the reservation of the necessary capacities for the transportation of natural gas through the gas transmission system of Ukraine for consumers of Moldova in October. In fact, as of October, 54 million cubic meters of natural gas were contracted for consumers on the right bank of the Dniester (67% of the required 80 million cubic meters). As a result, starting from October 1, the actual daily consumption of natural gas in the country began to exceed the volume supplied by Gazprom. The shortage of gas imports is covered from the gas reserves of the main gas pipelines of Moldova, as a result of which the pressure in the Moldovatransgaz gas transportation system falls. As noted, "Moldovatransgaz", as an operator of the transmission system, is taking all necessary measures to maintain the pressure in the gas pipelines in the optimal mode for the normal functioning of the system and to ensure uninterrupted transmission of gas at the points of exit from the gas transportation system. In turn, "Moldovagaz", as a gas supplier, turned to consumers with a request to reduce gas consumption, including: consumers who have the opportunity to switch to alternative fuel; sugar factories that can store sugar beets for a certain number of days and ensure replacement of the over-contract volume with alternative fuel (fuel oil). The enterprises of the country's thermoelectric complex were also proposed in advance to temporarily switch to alternative fuel sources. The Moldovagaz company announced that it is negotiating with Gazprom to increase the volume of gas supplies and reserve capacities to the required volume of monthly consumption, in order to ensure the necessary quality parameters of the supplied gas. // 06.10.2021 — InfoMarket
