Prices for Russian gas for Moldova will rise and Moldovagaz will apply to NAER with a request to revise tariffs for consumers after the final calculations for adjusting the gas tariff become known in mid-September.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of "Moldovagaz" Vadim Ceban in an interview with one of the Moldovan media. He noted that there are real preconditions for an increase in the price of natural gas supplied to Moldova, and if last year the average purchase price was $ 148 per 1,000 cubic meters, then this year it can be about $ 200. “This is due to the recovery of the global economy and the increase in gas prices. The current contract with Gazprom for consumers from Moldova uses the European formula for calculating the cost of natural gas. It is based on the arithmetic mean of the price of gas sold by Gazprom to non-CIS countries and price quotations for petroleum products. This directly affects the cost of natural gas supplied to Moldova, respectively, and the need to adjust tariffs for end consumers, "said the head of Moldovagaz. He noted that now it is impossible to say exactly how much 1 cubic meter of gas for household consumers will rise in price. “The final calculations of Moldovagaz JSC on the adjustment of the natural gas tariff will be known in mid-September 2021 - then Moldovagaz JSC will apply to NAER with a request to revise the tariffs,” Vadim Ceban emphasized. He recalled that, according to the current Methodology for calculating, approving and applying regulated prices and tariffs for natural gas, suppliers of natural gas at regulated tariffs have the right to apply to the agency with a request to revise tariffs during the reporting year if there are objective factors beyond the control of gas companies. For example, changes in the purchase prices for natural gas, electricity, fluctuations in the exchange rate of the national currency, the emergence of laws and regulations leading to higher transmission, distribution, supply, and so on, leading to a deviation of more than 3% from the annual costs of the natural gas set in tariffs. In this case, the suppliers submit to NAER an analysis of the influencing factors and deviations between the indicators included in the calculation of tariffs and the actual ones, and the agency, in these cases, has the right to adjust tariffs in each half of the year or more often, depending on the degree of influence of objective factors on tariffs. The head of "Moldovagaz" noted that any movement of exchange quotations down or up for fuel oil and diesel will definitely affect the purchase price for natural gas.// 04.08.2021 — InfoMarket
