A new methodology for calculating and applying prices for oil products in Moldova will be developed and approved by June 14 - NAER.

This was stated by the director of the National Agency for Energy Regulation Eugen Carpov during the first round of preliminary consultations on the development of the methodology held on May 20 online. At the beginning of the meeting, representatives of NAER briefly introduced the participants of the consultations to the recently introduced amendments to the Law on the Petroleum Products Market, which provide for a change in the procedure for setting fuel prices and oblige the regulator to develop and approve a new Methodology for calculating and applying prices for petroleum products within a month from the date of publication of amendments in Monitorul oficial. As Eugen Carpov noted, the adopted amendments contain a new version of the article concerning the formation of prices for petroleum products, as well as general rules for the calculation and application of prices for main types of petroleum products, which stipulate that the maximum retail prices for main types of petroleum products are calculated for 1 liter separately for each type imported petroleum products and each batch of imported petroleum products according to a special formula. Eugen Carpov stressed that NAER has some questions about the interpretation of certain new provisions, and within the framework of consultations on all aspects, solutions should be found aimed at clarifying and developing the new provisions recorded in the law in order to introduce a new Methodology for calculating and applying prices for petroleum products. According to NAER, the main purpose of the meeting was to determine the optimal solutions for the implementation of the new rules, so that a mechanism could be created that would ensure a balance between protecting the interests of the end consumer and ensuring the transparency of the functioning of the oil products market. During the discussions, the participants expressed concern about the procedure for applying certain provisions of the legislation, taking into account the existing accounting rules, as well as the technical features of the import, storage, wholesale and retail trade of petroleum products. The NAER specialists took into account all the proposals and objections of the participants and intend to analyze them in detail so that the final draft is not only applicable, but also corresponds to the latest legislative changes. // 20.05.2021 — InfoMarket
