The new rules for balancing electricity in Moldova should be put into effect by October 2, 2021 and ensure both competition and stability of the electricity system.

This was discussed during a working meeting that Moldovan President Maia Sandu held with the leadership of the National Energy Regulatory Agency and the Moldelectrica State Enterprise. According to the press service of the head of state, during the meeting the parties discussed the necessary measures to ensure competition in the electricity supply market. In this regard, the participants spoke about the actions taken to develop and apply new rules for balancing electricity, which relate to compensation for deviations from the planned values of consumption and production of electricity. These rules should be in effect by October 2 and should ensure both competition and the stability of the electricity system. “ANRE and Moldelectrica SE must ensure equal and non-discriminatory access to balancing services for all electricity suppliers. Selective application of rules in favor of certain suppliers using administrative resources to monopolize the market is unacceptable. ANRE should ensure that all service providers comply with the rules and apply sanctions to those who act outside the legal framework,” emphasized Maia Sandu. // 26.04.2021 - InfoMarket
