Moldova remains the only country for which Ukraine is currently transiting Russian gas to the south.
The head of the company GTS Operator of Ukraine Sergiy Makogon wrote about this on the social network, noting that the Russian "Gazprom" is gradually reducing gas transit through Ukraine. In particular, according to him, after the launch of the Turkish Stream-1 and Turkish Stream-2 gas pipelines, the transit of Russian gas to Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria has completely switched to new gas pipelines. In addition, from April 1, supplies of Russian natural gas to Romania will be fully ensured by Bulgaria through Turkish Stream-2. “At present, transit in the southern direction through Ukraine is carried out only for Moldovan consumers. If the extention of the Turkish Stream through Bulgaria and Serbia is completed, then Gazprom will transfer the transit to Hungary to Turkish Stream-2 as well. For Ukraine, this means an additional loss of 10-12 billion cubic meters of transit annually,” said Sergiy Makogon. According to him, it is very important to prevent the completion of the construction of the Nord Stream-2. "Gas transit through Ukraine is not only a significant income, but also an important element of Ukraine's energy security," he summed up. // 05.04.2021 – InfoMarket
