The Moldovagaz company intends to extend the contract for the supply of Russian natural gas without changing the conditions previously agreed with Gazprom.
This was stated by the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Anatol Usatii, noting that this issue will be discussed by the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz. “According to the analysis, at the moment, no significant increase or deviation in prices for the supply of natural gas is expected compared to the current IV quarter. We do not currently see these risks. The Ministry, together with JSC Moldovagaz, constantly monitors this process, "Anatol Usatii clarified, presenting to Prime Minister Ion Chicu the information he requested on natural gas supplies to Moldova in 2021. It should be noted that the average annual purchase price of natural gas for Moldova in 2019 year amounted to $ 233.67 per 1 thousand cubic meters, an increase of 7.5% compared to 2018. According to Moldovagaz, the purchase price of Russian natural gas in the first quarter of 2020 amounted to $ 180.26 per 1,000 cubic meters, in the II quarter - $ 168.28, in the III quarter - $ 136.74. The purchase price of gas in the IV quarter has not yet been announced, but earlier it was said that it could decrease to $ 100, and in the first quarter of 2021 it will be approximately $ 120 per 1,000 cubic meters. According to the current formula of the contract with Gazprom, the cost of Russian natural gas for Moldova is calculated on a quarterly basis using a European formula that takes into account the price of gas sold by Gazprom to non-CIS countries over the past 9 months. In addition, when calculating the cost of gas for Moldova, the dynamics of the price of gas oil and fuel oil for the 9 months immediately preceding the quarter of gas supply is taken into account.// 17.12.2020 — InfoMarket.
