The Moldovan government has extended for another 6 months - until June 30, 2021, the period for the import of petroleum products through the Transnistrian region.
In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers amended its previous resolution "On Certain Aspects of the Import of Petroleum Products across the Eastern Border" in order to extend for another six months the deadline for the import of petroleum products through the Novosavitcaia-Cuciurgan checkpoint, established earlier until December 31, 2020, ensuring the possibility of their customs clearance at the customs post "Bender 2". The decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers to support economic agents from the eastern regions of Moldova, as well as to provide the region with oil products. It is stipulated that, in case of establishing joint control at the crossing points of the state border "Novosavitcaia-Cuciurgan", the need to extend the above terms will disappear. As a reminder, since August 2016, Ukraine has suspended the supply of oil products to the Transnistrian region by rail through the checkpoints “Cobasna-Slobodca” and “Novosavitcaia-Cuciurgan” located on the Transnistrian section of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. The movement of cargo with fuel was redirected through the Ocnita checkpoint. Then the goods were delivered to the railway stations "Ribnita" and "Bender 2". After discussions with the Ukrainian authorities and reaching agreements, as well as on the basis of requests from fuel importers, on November 9, 2016, the Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova allowed companies to import oil products through the Transnistrian region, through the “Bender-2” customs post, carrying out customs clearance at the “Novosavitcaia- Cuciurgan ". This decision was made on a temporary basis until December 31, 2016, but later this period was extended - every six months for another 6 months.// 16.12.2020 — InfoMarket.
