The President of Moldova stated this during a meeting of the Constituent Body of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Chisinau. This founding body represents a group of countries that have joined forces to strengthen their positions in the IMF and the World Bank. Moldova is part of a group that includes Andorra, Armenia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Georgia, Israel, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Romania and Ukraine. In her message, the head of state emphasized that in recent years, despite numerous challenges, our country has become more stable and strong, including thanks to the support of international partners such as the World Bank and the IMF. At the same time, the president noted that Moldova is at the forefront of the fight to protect democracy. “Economic development and democracy are interdependent - economic progress is critical to strengthening support for democracy, and democracy provides the strongest foundation for building a prosperous economy,” said Maia Sandu.
