EU discusses the creation of a security mission for Moldova - Josep Borrell.
The European Union will discuss the possibility of sending a mission to Moldova as part of its common foreign and security policy. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy said this after a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels. "Moldova now seeks to take advantage of the mission as part of our common foreign and security policy. We will continue to discuss the possibility of establishing such a mission in Moldova, which should support our candidate by strengthening resilience to foreign intervention and stabilization measures," he said. The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy pointed out that the bloc supports Moldova through the European Peace Facility, which recently earmarked 40 million euros for the Moldovan security forces. Also, according to Borrell, the EU will continue measures to strengthen Moldova's resilience against external threats. "Strengthening security is the best way to guarantee that it will move forward on the European path. Moldova, like Ukraine, is part of the European family, and its future is within the EU. This is absolutely clear, and we have to develop this," Josep Borrell said. // 21.02.2023 - InfoMarket
