NATO is analyzing the possibility of more active cooperation with Moldova in various fields while taking into account its neutral status.
According to Romanian media reports, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this in Bucharest. He noted that Moldova is a partner of NATO and has suffered greatly from the war in Ukraine. "And NATO is currently analyzing how to deepen cooperation with this country in various areas, taking into account that Moldova does not want to join NATO and is a neutral country," Jens Stoltenberg stressed. Asked at a press conference in Bucharest how a country like Moldova could be helped to protect itself from the consequences of the war in Ukraine, the NATO Secretary General acknowledged that economic support is the best way to help. "Moldova is a partner of NATO, and Moldova has a very close relationship with the European Union, but many allies support it bilaterally as well. I recently met with President Maia Sandu, and we had a very extensive discussion about how we could deepen our partnership, given the fact that Moldova does not want to join NATO and is a neutral country. We are analyzing how we can work more actively with Moldova in different areas, but we also welcome the fact that NATO and EU allies are providing economic assistance to Moldova to help it cope with the consequences of the war in Ukraine," Jens Stoltenberg said. According to him, Moldova, being so close to the war zone, has suffered greatly. "Of course, the only and best way to end this situation is to stop the brutal war of aggression, which is bad for Ukrainians but has ramifications on a global level, including affecting energy and food prices as well as some poor countries like Moldova," the NATO Secretary General added. // 30.11.2022 - InfoMarket
