The international community will expand financial and technical assistance to strengthen Moldova's energy security, and the next donor conference to support it will be held in Chisinau in 2023.

This was said in a joint statement of foreign ministers of France, Germany and Romania, who organized the Third "Moldova Support Platform" Ministerial Conference in Paris on November 21. Foreign ministers and high-ranking representatives of 36 partner states, as well as leaders and representatives of 15 key international organizations took part in the conference. The "Moldova Support Platform" is an intergovernmental instrument that aims to help Moldova overcome the enormous challenges it faces, particularly in the context of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. The first two ministerial conferences were held in Berlin and Bucharest under the auspices of Romania, Germany and France. Building on the significant progress made in Berlin and Bucharest, the third conference focused on finding operational solutions to Moldova's most urgent needs, as noted in a statement by the French, German and Romanian foreign ministers. The conference focused on concrete solutions and immediate energy assistance to strengthen Moldova's energy sustainability. Condemning Russia's cynical use of energy as an instrument of blackmail and destabilization, participants agreed to enhance the mobilization of the international community to provide Moldova with concrete political, financial and technical assistance to strengthen its energy security in the short to medium term. The co-chairs of the platform's six thematic working groups updated heads of delegation on progress made since previous conferences, and proposed actions to respond individually to Moldova's needs. Focusing on economic aid, the humanitarian situation of refugees, public administration reform and public financial management, anti-corruption, efficient border management and energy issues, these working groups reaffirmed their importance in identifying Moldova's needs and finding operational solutions. Participants in the Paris meeting of "Moldova Support Platform" reaffirmed their commitment to support Moldova's European integration process, based on sustained efforts to reform and share the common fundamental values of democracy, freedom and peace. They welcomed Moldova's clear political commitment in this respect and acknowledged the commitment and concrete steps taken in response to the recommendations contained in the European Commission's conclusion on the country’s application for EU membership. Participants reaffirmed their interest in promoting stability, prosperity and development of Moldova, proposing swift solutions to the most pressing social and economic challenges and priorities of the reform agenda. Participants pledged to continue concrete and comprehensive cooperation to support Moldova. //22.11.2022 - InfoMarket.
