Sweden may increase investments in green energy, cybersecurity, IT and manufacturing industries in Moldova.

This was discussed at a meeting held by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova Katarina Fried, who is completing her mandate in our country. As reported by the government press service, the officials discussed relations between Moldova and Sweden, cooperation in various sectors and areas in which it can be expanded. The Prime Minister appreciated the Ambassador's significant contribution to strengthening the partnership between the two countries and supporting Moldova's European path. "We see the results of your work and our joint efforts. Strong support for our democratic reforms and European aspirations has a long-term impact," Dorin Recean said. The Prime Minister emphasized that Sweden is one of the largest bilateral donors to Moldova. Financial and technical assistance is provided through the Swedish International Cooperation Agency in areas such as good governance, social inclusion and sustainable development. In terms of sectoral cooperation, the interlocutors discussed increasing Swedish investments in green energy, cybersecurity, information technology and manufacturing. They also mentioned the opening of direct flights between the capitals of the two countries in June, which will also improve economic relations. Another topic touched upon was the security partnership, and Sweden’s support in strengthening Moldova’s cyber resilience was appreciated. In this context, the officials spoke about the measures taken to ensure fair elections this autumn, and to combat propaganda and false narratives. // 18.06.2025 — InfoMarket.
