The Prime Minister announced this at a meeting in Cahul with representatives of local authorities and deconcentrated services, with whom he discussed government investments in the modernization of settlements in Cahul district, as well as the current problems faced by citizens in the region. Dorin Recean noted that Cahul is rapidly developing and modernizing thanks to government support and European funding. He summarized the activities already implemented, which have improved the standard of living of people in the region. Thus, 44 km of water pipelines, 2 treatment facilities, 5 artesian wells and 4 water towers have been built in 6 settlements of Cahul district, and this year another 12 settlements will gain access to drinking water. In parallel, work is underway at the water treatment plant in Cahul with the financial support of Germany and the European Union. The plant will serve about 40 thousand citizens. Herewith, in the field of agriculture and rural development, farmers and settlements of the district received subsidies of 56 million lei. Touching upon the road infrastructure, the Prime Minister emphasized that regional roads are being modernized. Work has resumed on the M3 highway, the bypass road in the village of Slobozia Mare, and the technical project for the section of the R34 Cahul-Giurgiulesti road, which will be reconstructed, has already been completed. Repair work on the Cantemir-Cahul road section should begin soon, and the reconstruction of the G141 Colibasi-Vulcanesti road is by 93% complete. The head of the Cabinet also spoke about investing 63 million lei in the reconstruction and equipping of medical institutions in the Cahul district, the opening of a Stroke Treatment Center and the opening of several pharmacies within the framework of the "Pharmacy in Your Village" program. In addition, 13 million lei were invested in the modernization and equipment of 6 schools and 9 kindergartens.
