Moldova's financing will be one of the priorities of the EU budget for the next 7 years and it will receive adequate financial assistance in the EU accession process and later - Siegfried Muresan
This was stated by the Romanian MEP, co-chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Moldova-EU Association. Siegfried Muresan said that after the European Parliament voted last month for the biggest European aid in Moldova's history, amounting to 1.9 billion euros, he wants to ensure the continuation of support for Moldova on its path to the EU, which is why he included in his report on the EU budget priorities for 2028-2034 a provision that Moldova, together with Ukraine, will receive adequate financial and political support in the EU accession process. “Today, the report was adopted by an overwhelming majority in the Budget Committee - almost 2/3 of votes. The report also states that in the enlargement process, the future multi-annual budget of the Union should help both candidate countries and states that are already members of the EU. We want the EU budget for 2028-2032 to be flexible enough so that we are ready to support Moldova, both with the funds allocated for the pre-accession preparations and as a full member state, if accession takes place during this period,” Siegfried Muresan wrote. With Moldova, Ukraine and other eligible states joining the EU, he said, the EU will strengthen itself as a geopolitical structure in the face of the new security challenges it faces. “This is why EU enlargement and support for candidate countries should be priorities in the future European budget,” Siegfried Mureschan emphasized. // 23.04.2025 - InfoMarket.
