Rural settlements in Moldova can receive funding for the implementation of a Smart Village and the creation of photovoltaic parks
The funding will be provided within the framework of the EU4 Moldova Reziliență, a project financed by the European Commission through the Foreign Policy Instrument Service and implementing the Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova. As part of efforts to increase the resilience of society to security threats in the country’s villages, it is proposed to implement the concept of “smart villages” and provide assistance to 5 settlements in Moldova. In particular, local administrations who want to participate in the project will receive expert advice to develop a “smart village” strategy - they will receive institutional support, mentoring, and will be able to make study visits to European countries that are implementing the concept of “smart villages”. Then (until September 15, 2025) ideas for smart projects will be selected. At the last stage, photovoltaic parks will be built and put into operation in selected localities with which financing agreements will be concluded. The actual purchase of the necessary equipment and services will be handled by Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova, and the money will be transferred directly from the supplier. It is noted that up to 80 thousand euros are provided for each beneficiary to finance the activities included in the Smart Village strategy, and up to 190 thousand euros per project for the installation and commissioning of photovoltaic parks. Applications for participation can be submitted by local authorities of settlements with at least 4 thousand residents who have an interest in implementing smart village components and experience in developing innovative solutions. The participation of administrations that are in the process of voluntary merger is also possible. Applications can be submitted until August 14. // 23.07.2024 — InfoMarket.
