
Romania is Moldova's main trading partner and one of its largest investors with an investment volume of more than 6.7 billion lei.
At the same time, Moldovan exports to Romania reached 1.4 billion lei, and the number of companies with Romanian capital exceeds 1,600. This was discussed during the meeting that the Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean held in Chisinau with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Luminita Odobescu. Moldovan Prime Minister noted that Romania provided 6 million euros for the implementation of 33 projects within the framework of the European Village program, 30 million euros for the renovation of 1,000 kindergartens and about 4 million euros for the purchase of school buses as part of the School Transport Development project. Romania also supports the youth of Moldova, providing students with more than 2,500 scholarships annually. In recent years, Romania has financed numerous infrastructure projects, including the construction of bridges, the modernization of roads, water supply and sewerage networks, as well as the equipment of hospitals and the restoration of cultural sites. The parties jointly ensure the energy security of our country by implementing projects to interconnect gas and electricity networks, build and modernize more and more road bridges across the Prut, and cooperate to ensure border security and fight crime. Romania donated 10 thousand tons of diesel fuel to Moldova in 2021 and 2024. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Romania supported Moldova through donations of vaccines, medical equipment and other necessary resources. The parties are implementing the SMURD project, which helps save human lives.
