The loan portfolio of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Moldova has amounted to 1.3 billion euros since 2007.

Such data was discussed at a meeting of representatives of the State Chancellery, the European Investment Bank and the Ministry of Finance, dedicated to Moldova’s cooperation with this financial institution. At the meeting, an assessment was made of the progress of implementation of projects with financial support from the EIB in Moldova. The problems encountered, next steps to ensure development, government priorities and medium-term development projects were also discussed. During the discussions, the importance of effective planning and prioritization of investment projects was emphasized, taking into account the stages of preparation of these projects before the stage of resource development. At the same time, the importance of identifying solutions to increase capacity in the effective implementation and capitalization of loans received by the state for development was noted. Since 2007, the EIB has supported the economic and social development of Moldova through investments in both the public and private sectors. The EIB's accumulated loan portfolio includes 33 projects with a total value of approximately 1.3 billion euros. In the previous 2 years alone, the EIB provided loans to Moldova worth more than 400 million euros. Thus, in 2022, the EIB signed loan agreements with Moldova worth 250 million euros for road projects, as well as 16 million euros in investment grants. In 2023, the EIB signed loan agreements worth 120 million euros and allocated 23.5 million euros for projects in the public and private sectors. // 05.07.2024 - InfoMarket.
