
President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, announced an additional 145 million euros in macro-financial assistance for Moldova.
"Three weeks ago I told the people of Moldova that they are not alone. Today we are allocating an additional 145 million euros to support reforms in Moldova as the country continues to confront Russian threats. Moldova's future is in the European Union," wrote Roberta Metsola in Twitter. From the attached photos, it follows that President of the European Parliament has signed a document that will increase the amount of macro-financial assistance to Moldova by 145 million euros - up to 295 million euros. As InfoMarket agency earlier reported, the current package of the EU macro-financial aid to Moldova came into force on July 18, 2022 and provided for granting 150 million euros, including 120 million euros of soft loans and 30 million euros of grants. Thus the first tranche in the amount of 50 million euros was allocated to Moldova by the European Commission last August. On April 5 this year Moldova received a grant of 10 million euros from the European Commission under the second tranche, and another 40 million euros in loans were allocated in early May. At the same time, the European Commission earlier proposed to double the current macro-financial assistance to Moldova - from 150 million euros to 295 million euros. Additional EU macro-financial assistance will be directed to support economic stabilization and structural reform program in Moldova, supplementing the resources provided under the IMF financial agreement. The EU is expected to grant Moldova up to - 220 million euros out of a possible 295 million euros through loans and up to 75 million euros through grants. // 15.06.2023 – InfoMarket
