Chisinau City Hall signed agreements with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for 12 million euros, of which 4 million euros is a grant.
According to the city administration, the funds will be used to implement a project to rehabilitate the Bîc River and protect it from floods. The project is part of the Program Green City Action Plan to find solutions to combat climate change. The project involves cleaning the river, restoring the banks, revitalizing the water flow, etc. The project is designed for 3 years and will be implemented in phases. Priority investment plan for the 1st year includes: development of an integrated watershed model (combining sewage, surface water and improved sediment modeling); institutional capacity building; topographical studies; development of a hydraulic model; purchase of drain cleaning equipment (Exdrupo uses technically obsolete equipment, which breaks down very often); all design work and development of technical designs for all future works. The second phase involves investments in: the initial rehabilitation of the drainage network and the re-profiling of the riverbed for 7.6 km within the city limits; the rehabilitation of the urban drainage system to reduce the frequency of floods and improve the quality of water flowing into the river. // 13.06.2023 - InfoMarket
