
The EBRD will provide Moldova with a grant of 5.6 million euros for the processing of solid waste.
The Moldovan government approved a draft law on the ratification of a grant agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for 5.6 million euros, signed at the end of March in Chisinau. The agreement is intended to finance investment projects aimed at developing infrastructure in the field of solid waste management within the framework of the Solid Waste project, for the implementation of which the EBRD will provide a loan of 25 million lei. Through this project, Moldova is implementing the national goals set in the policy documents, including the Solid Waste Management Strategy (approved in 2023). The project will finance the purchase of waste collection and transportation equipment (garbage containers and collection vehicles), as well as the construction of solid waste disposal and treatment infrastructure (garbage storage and material sorting and processing facilities).
