
Moldova will receive a $40 million loan and a $4.8 million grant from the World Bank to modernize schools and kindergartens.
The press service of the parliament reported this, noting that members of the commission on foreign policy and European integration have approved the start of negotiations with the WB to conclude agreements that involve the allocation of these funds. In particular, the World Bank will provide Moldova with a $40 million loan and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), a member of the World Bank Group, will provide a $4.8 million grant. A grant agreement of $5 million from the Early Learning Partnership (ELP), a multi-donor trust fund, will also be negotiated. The money will be used to implement the "Improving Educational Quality" project. It will renovate about 15 schools and 15 kindergartens and build three new high schools. Also, physical and digital modernization of educational environment will be made in about 200 schools. The agreement also stipulates introduction of tools to support children who fail in studies, provision of modern learning and game materials for kindergartens and strengthening of human capital in the sphere of education.
