Moldova will receive 21.75 million euros from the E5P Energy Efficiency Fund.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, donors to the Eastern European Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P) Fund announced new contributions to the E5P fund at the Annual Donor Assembly. Thanks to new contributions announced by Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Slovakia, Moldova will receive 11.75 million euros in a grant to co-finance technical assistance and investment projects in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. In addition, by the end of this year, the European Union will contribute to the E5P fund about 10 million euros intended for our country. Thus, the total amount of financing will reach 21.75 million euros. Currently, E5P grants are being used to co-finance in Moldova a solid waste management project in Chisinau, as well as an energy efficiency project implemented in the modernization of the CET Nord district heating system in Balti. Let us recall that E5P is a 243 million euro multilateral donor fund established in the European Union in 2009. It was created to stimulate the inflow of investments in the implementation of energy efficiency and environmental protection projects in the Eastern Partnership region. In 2014, the foundation, which initially started its work in Ukraine, expanded its activities to Armenia, Georgia and Moldova, in 2017 to Belarus, and in 2019 to Azerbaijan. E5P participates in the implementation of projects as a co-financing organization. The Fund supports energy efficiency loans offered by implementing financial institutions (EBRD, EIB, World Bank Group, etc.). // 06.12.2021 - InfoMarket
