In 2021-2022, Germany will provide Moldova with gratuitous financial assistance worth 34.5 million euros.

This was discussed during negotiations on development cooperation between the governments of Moldova and Germany, which took place in a virtual format in Chisinau, Berlin and Bonn on November 25. The Moldovan delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu, and the German delegation was led by the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Maria Flachsbarth. As noted, since 1993, the total amount of financial assistance provided to Moldova by the German government amounted to 154.7 million euros. In 2021-2022, the German government has pledged to provide the Moldovan government with new assistance totaling 34.5 million euros. It includes 23 million euros for financial cooperation projects and 11.5 million euros for technical cooperation projects. Further cooperation between Moldova and Germany will focus on two priority areas: “Professional training and sustainable growth for decent jobs”, including education and technical, professional practice, as well as the development of the private and financial sectors; “Responsibility for our planet - climate and energy”, including urban and municipal development. German aid will focus on improving public services for the population, including water supply and wastewater treatment. Moreover, by promoting local businesses and attracting new investors, it is planned to create more high-paid jobs and economic opportunities. Germany has stated that it will continue to adhere to the principles of good governance, supporting important reform processes and the fight against corruption, by providing expertise in the field of government policy. In addition to this cooperation, the German government has already provided Moldova with over 17 million euros in aid to overcome the pandemic crisis. // 26.11.2021 – InfoMarket
