
USAID and the Swedish government have launched the Future Technologies project in Moldova with a budget of $ 32.8 million.
The largest project in the field of innovation and digitization will be implemented in 2021-2026. It will contribute to the growth of competitiveness and integration in the international market in the following strategic industries for Moldova: information and communication technologies (ICT), engineering, light industry, creative industry and digital media. The "Technologies of the Future" project is aimed at achieving the following results in the next 5 years: investments and financing totaling $ 75 million will be attracted to the private sector; 600 companies from Moldova will use modern technologies in their work; 100 innovations will be applied for the first time in the industries supported by the project; small and medium enterprises will enter 15 international markets; 45 political initiatives will be worked out for the development of the digital economy and a creative approach to the business sphere in Moldova; 50 university courses will be revised, taking into account the requirements of various sectors of the economy, in order to ensure that specialists are trained in accordance with the requirements of the market. In total, within the framework of the project, about 15 thousand employees in various sectors of the economy will acquire digital skills and improve working conditions. The Future Technologies project is a strategic continuation of the project to improve competitiveness in Moldova, which was implemented from September 2015 to September 2021 and contributed to the development of the potential of four main sectors of the economy: viticulture, tourism, light industry and information technology.
