
The United States will provide Moldova with a grant aid of $ 72.53 million, which our country could not receive and utilize earlier within the framework of two grant agreements for a total of $ 167.53 million.
In particular, the allocation of this gratuitous aid will provide for the corresponding amendments N11, which are planned to be introduced into the Intergovernmental Agreement with the United States on Development Assistance for More Effective Democratic Governance in Moldova and the Intergovernmental Agreement on Development Assistance to Increase Trade and Investment in Key Sectors. Both agreements were signed by the governments of Moldova and the United States in Chisinau on September 28, 2016, and now the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Moldova has approved the start of negotiations and the signing of amendments to them for the use of untapped financial resources. The agreements expired in 2021, but the parties agreed to extend them and the timing of the grants that expired in May-June 2021. According to the Ministry of Finance, in particular, at present, the total amount of the grant provided for by the Intergovernmental Agreement with the United States on development for more effective and accountable democratic governance in Moldova and 10 amendments to it, is $ 76.91 million. At the same time, to date, through aid projects under this agreement, Moldova has been disbursed $ 32 million, but assistance in the amount of $ 44.91 million has not been disbursed for the Effective Justice projects, the Changing the Way We Care project and other new projects for civil society. Herewith the total grant amount envisaged for the development assistance agreement between the governments of Moldova and the United States to increase trade and investment in key sectors is $ 90.62 million.
