
EU direct investments dominate the Moldovan economy, accounting for 71% of the total investment and exceeding $3 billion as of the end of 2020.
The EU Delegation to Moldova reported this, while clarifying that EU direct investments in Moldova were the most dynamic in recent years, exceeding $3 billion as of the end of 2020. At the same time, many sectors of the national economy were able to take advantage of investments from the European Union: financial activities - 26% of the total EU investments, trade - 23%, processing industry - 22%, information and communications - 9%, energy - 7%, real estate - 6%, construction - 2%, other sectors - 5%. As follows from the infographic “How important is the European Union market for Moldova” published by the Independent Thank-Tank Expert-Grup, the share of the CIS in the total volume of direct investments in Moldova was 21% and that of non-EU and CIS countries - 8%. At the same time, 78% of the total volume of direct investments of the CIS in Moldova accounts for the energy sector, 12% - the transport and storage sector, 5% - trade, 3% - the processing industry, 1% - financial activities, other sectors - 1%. // 29.07.2021 – InfoMarket
