Unemployed citizens can provide themselves with an insurance period by paying mandatory social insurance contributions on an individual basis.
The National Social Insurance House reminds that unemployed persons have the right to secure insurance periods for themselves by concluding an individual contract with the National Social Insurance House, paying state social insurance contributions in a fixed amount. According to the legislation, in 2022, the amount of the mandatory state social insurance contribution for persons concluding an individual contract is set at 12,838 lei, but not less than 1/12 of the monthly fee (1,069.84 lei per month). Non-working individuals who are owners or tenants of agricultural land, cultivating the land individually, can be insured on the basis of an individual contract concluded with the National Social Insurance House, paying a contribution in the amount of 3270 lei, but not less than 1/12 of this amount (272.5 lei per month). The period of payment of contributions under an individual agreement is an insured period, which is included in the insurance periods for determining the retirement pension and burial allowance. To conclude an individual social insurance contract, non-working citizens can apply to the territorial social insurance offices located at the place of residence of the beneficiary. The National Social Insurance House also notes that it also provides for the possibility of retroactive insurance for individuals (since 1999) and owners and tenants of agricultural land who cultivate the land individually (since 2009), and the amount of contributions is stipulated in the Law on the state social insurance budget for the corresponding year.// 18.01.2022- InfoMarket.
