
Moldova: Industrial production volume in January-October 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, decreased by 3.9%.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported this without giving data in value terms. According to the agency, at the same time in October 2023 industrial production increased by 8.1%, compared with the same month of the previous year. As noted, the 8.1% increase in production in October 2023, compared to October 2022, was due to an increase in manufacturing (+8.1%) and production and supply of electricity, as well as heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+16.2%), which provided an increase in total industrial production by 7.3% and 1.1%, respectively. At the same time, production in the extractive industry decreased (-12.4%), which led to a 0.3% decrease in production in the industry as a whole. On the whole, in January-October 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, the production volumes in the extractive industry decreased by 9.7%, in the processing industry - by 5.4%. At enterprises producing electricity, heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning, the growth amounted to 5.3%. According to statistics, in January-October 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, growth was noted in the following segments: beverage production (+0.6%); production of pharmaceutical products and pharmaceuticals (+22.3%); production in the metallurgical industry (+23.9%); production of computers, electronic and optical products (+9.2%); production of electrical equipment (+69%); production of machinery and equipment (2.9 times growth). At the same time, the volume of production at the enterprises of food industry decreased (-12.9%); production of textile products (-9.2%); clothing (-16.1%); paper and paper products (-12.7%); chemicals and chemical products (-30.3%); rubber and plastic products (10.4%); metal structures and products, except machinery, equipment and installations (-3.9%); cars, trailers and semi-trailers (-13.3%); furniture (-9.1%). In the section "tanning and finishing of leather; manufacture of suitcases, bags, saddlery; dressing and dyeing of fur" the decline amounted to 11.5%; in the section "processing of wood and manufacture of wood and cork products, except furniture; manufacture of products made of straw and other plant materials for weaving" - a decline of 0.5%; in the section repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment - a decline of 2.8%.
