Authorities propose to introduce a fiscal monopoly in the scrap metal market.

Authorities propose to introduce a fiscal monopoly in the scrap metal market.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization is studying the possibility of establishing a state monopoly on the activity of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals by economic agents on the territory of our country that do not have fiscal relations with the budgetary system of Moldova. By establishing a financial monopoly, a mechanism will be created through which certain enterprises in the country will have the exclusive right to carry out specific economic activities related to the production or supply of certain goods or services. The purpose of this instrument is to protect citizens and society by promoting public interest in the economic activities of economic entities, as well as to make a significant contribution to increasing state budget revenues. Let us remind that at the end of 2022, the National Fiscal Monopoly Commission was established, which will recommend to the government to grant the status of fiscal monopoly to an enterprise or group of enterprises. The Commission will annually supervise and evaluate the economic sector in which these entities, which have been granted fiscal monopoly status, operate and propose to the government to revoke this status, in case deviations from the established norms are detected. // 24.08.2023 - InfoMarket.
