
Moldova: Industrial production volume decreased by 6.2% in January-February 2023 relative to the same period of 2022.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported this, without providing data in value terms. According to the agency, at the same time in February 2023 the volume of industrial production decreased by 4.9% compared to the same month last year. Overall, in January-February 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, production in the extractive industry decreased by 24.6%, and in the processing industry - by 7.2%. According to the NBS, food industry enterprises for 2 months in 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, reduced overall production volumes by 15.7%. The production of beverages increased by 1%, textile production - decreased by 7.7%, clothing production - decreased by 5.5%. In the tanning and leather finishing section; production of suitcases, bags, harness and saddlery; dressing and dyeing of fur, the decline was 0.6%, and in the section on wood processing and the production of wood and cork products, except for furniture; production of products from straw and other plant materials for weaving increased 9.9%. The production of paper and paper products decreased by 1%, while the production of chemicals and chemical products decreased by 43%. The output of pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations increased by 75.3%, and rubber and plastic products - by 2%. In the metallurgical industry, production decreased by 2.8%. The output of metal structures and products, except for machines, equipment and installations, decreased by 8.7%, and in the section "production of computers, electronic and optical products" the indicator decreased by 42.4%. The production of electrical equipment grew by 41.3%, machinery and equipment - by 53.2%, and cars, trailers and semi-trailers - decreased by 10.3%. Furniture output fell by 9.7%. In the repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment section, the growth was 19.8%. Production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning decreased by 3.5%.
